KUCHING: Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) 2009 candidates are invited to apply to enter Form 4 in all Sekolah Menengah Teknik (SMT) Sarawak for the 2010 school year.Applicants must be Malaysian citizens born in 1994 or after, healthy and not physically-disabled.
The technical course is offered in two technical schools in Sarawak namely SMT Bintulu and SMT Sejingkat.
Those who want to apply for the technical course must score A in subjects like Bahasa Melayu, Mathematics, Science and Kemahiran Hidup and four B in other subjects like English in the 2009 PMR.The vocational course is offered in all SMT except SMT Sejingkat.
Entry requirements include a minimum of B or C in Bahasa Melayu, minimum of B, C or D in Mathematics, Science, Kemahiran Hidup and minimum C or D in another subject depending on the type of courses offered.
The skills course is available in all SMT except SMT Sejingkat and SMT Sibu. The course is open to all PMR 2009 candidates. However, priority is given to those who did not do well in the examinations.
Applications can be made online through the Education Ministry’s website at http://www.moe.gov.my.
Those who do not have access to the Internet may apply using application forms available at all SMT, Secondary Unit, School Management Sector, Sarawak Education Department or district education offices, and all Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan in the state.
Application forms must be completed and sent to the Pengetua, Sekolah Menengah Teknik Pilihan Pertama Pemohon.
The selection of students will be made based on their PMR 2009 examination results which will be released at the end of the year.
Nonetheless, students can apply based on their PMR mock examination result.
The closing date for all applications is Jan 4, 2010.
