KUCHING: Fathers with a palate for Indonesian cuisine are in for a treat this weekend as Pondok Laguna Restaurant offers a one-day promotional buffet in conjunction with Father’s Day this coming Sunday.Located at Crowne Square, the buffet promotion costs RM19.90 for adults while children between the ages of three and 12 will be charged half the price.
The restaurant offers a wide selection of dishes for the buffet which include four-colour ball, ‘rendang’ chicken, fried sliced beef with green chilli, sweet and sour fish, cuttlefish with ‘padang’ sauce, salted brinjal with chilli sauce and ‘gado-gado’ among other delightful delicacies.
The buffet also includes staple food infused with Indonesian spices such as ‘soto ayam’, ‘nasi kuning’, and fried noodles in addition to desserts such as Malay cake and potato balls apart from a free flow of soft drinks.
On top of that, the eatery recently introduced some new dishes in its menu at affordable prices, such as ‘tekwan’ soup at RM8, sizzling pan seafood at RM16, claypot curry with sea cucumber at RM20, spicy ‘assam’ grouper fish and stingray in ‘padang’ sauce to be priced according to weight.
Accompanying these new dishes are a selection of new drinks as well which include longan sea coconut at RM5.80, ice-blended mango at RM6.00, dragon fruit juice at RM6.20 and ‘kedondong’ juice at RM2.80.
These new dishes will be whipped up by chef Adeng Sopandi who hails from Jakarta. He has 15 years of experience under his belt, having served with many restaurants and hotels such as the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel back in Indonesia. He is assisted by chef Eem Emiliono with similar qualifications, both aiming to bring the best of Indonesian cuisine to Kuchingites.
Pondok Laguna opens for lunch at 11am to 2pm and for dinner at 6pm to 10pm daily.
