Investing in your staff
You must take care of the your team if you want to be taken care or you want your staff to take care of the customer.
Each time you want to interact with your staff, think about how do you want them to feel and what feelings you want them to pass to customers. This is the law of transference. See what the Bible says: “ As you sow, so shall you reap”
Divesting the Staff
Remember, if you have any compassion, firing people is the most difficult to do, and you are a jerk if you enjoy doing it.
“… insist and demand your officer to tender resignation if his/her YTD achievement is below 60% on sales. We don’t need these people in our team..”
When you are firing someone you are sending huge message to existing staff but if the firing is selective and without considering strong reason, you are heading for huge problem.
Management of an organisation must understand the insight equation between investment and divestment strategies. One must not see that divestment of staff @ asset is a solution to low productivity. It is indeed a reversal. Divesting in this contact is not like taking off ones cloth and change with another. It is to ‘sell’ or liquidate the resources.
Whilst divestment, to certain extend, a good strategy but communicating it must be as seamless as possible and not to be construed as bullying.
