Nothing Wrong with Anwar until .....

To me, there was nothing wrong with DS Anwar Ibrahim until he started the “Reformasi” demonstration after his unceremonious sacking by then PM Mahathir in 1999. He put the country in unnecessary havoc and put Mahathir in tatters. Police came in full force and government media made over-zealous reporting. Quite spicy news for the foreign medias but a hotbed for the government of Malaysia.

Unfortunately, Anwar was not good enough to topple Mahathir and his way of demonstrating was non other than still in out-dated mode. Had the Middle Eastern revolution been earlier than his sacking, Anwar could have stolen the tricks and the spirit of unseating the PM. Instead of unlocking Mahathir grips on the government, he was locked within the arm of ISA act.

Anwar is an excellent orator and he started the idea of demonstration while he was in campus. The objective then was noble as he was voicing against the poverty at Baling Kedah - by coincidence - Mahathir home-state. From the onset, there seemed no one stopping Anwar from becoming a purportedly good leader and perhaps a day will come he become a premier.

I have no business to comment on his current sodomy charges and his relationship with the sex video with China-doll as both cases are yet to be proven in court. However, Anwar escaped from the first sodomy case during Abdullah premiership due to some technical flaws.

Anwar, through his PKRism, should make a political came-back in 2008 during PRU-12 but he failed handling success. He was, instead, taken by surprise when the people handed him 5 states. As a preacher of ‘buying’ the lawmakers, he failed to design in advance, the fall of BN government. Anwar had no one to blame but himself for not having plan A and Plan B during the weakest time of BN leadership. By the time Anwar wanted to put his grand design in force, BN was already waking-up from their long sleep.

He made another ‘not good enough’ strategy by openly luring and chasing after the BN lawmakers into PR. His ‘buying’ behavior does not work well but instead of himself forming the Federal Government, PR lost Perak to BN where he was fully blamed by DAP, Karpal Singh. His shopping spree ended after his promise to change the government did not materialize on 16 September 2009.

Anwar not only enjoyed talking on the stool but addicted to demonstrating against the establishment. His words like ‘Reformasi’ to certain extend suggested a revolution. To larger extend, Anwar has created a brand for himself as a revolutionist by way of demonstration. Anwar has been, by and large, associated with all political demonstration in Malaysia, including the latest one, Bersih 2.0. And Anwar knew very well - no one win in demonstration.
