KUCHING: Those with Internet access do not need to spend hours queuing at the Sarawak Immigration Department to renew their passport.

“Passport renewal via the department’s online service is convenient and far less time consuming, if you have all the right documents and information,” one user, who declined to be named, said.

The user, a communications manager, also rated the MyOnline*Pasport passport renewal application and payment online service as “very fast and efficient” and “hassle-free”.

“All you have to do is fill in the online application form with all your details, making sure you have all the right information and then, hit the submit button,” he told The Star.

“After filling in all the forms by 11.30 that morning, I drove down and collected my brand new passport at 2pm. It was that easy!” he enthused.

However, the user also underlined that passport-holders should be ready with all the requirements before renewing their passports online.

“You need to have a very recent photo of yourself before uploading it online, or else you won’t be able to renew your passport.

“People really need to give it a try and see for themselves how convenient it is compared to over-the-counter service, which can take hours - or even days — if you’re unlucky,” he added.

The public can log on to https://eservices.imi.gov.my/myimms/myPassport to renew their passports online.
