KUCHING: Seasoned golfer Lee Kah Ming and Latifah Bujang emerged victorious in Kelab Golf Sarawak’s (KGS) curtain-raiser of the year, the KGS Chap Goh Meh Prosperity Golf Tournament and Chinese New Year Open House last SaturdayLee, who was playing with a Handicap 4, carded a 77 score to finish one stroke ahead of young gun Benjamin Ethan Ngelingkong for the Men’s Group A Gross title while a stroke further in third place was Mohammad Lokman Mustaffa.
Saxen Hii Shang Yao returned the day’s score of 80 to end up in fourth spot, beating Wan Liz Farwana by one shot.
In Group A nett competition, Omarali Matjais was the winner as he shot a 66, finishing three strokes ahead of Mohamed Dzur Kaef and four strokes in front of Yahya Ibrahim.
The Men’s Group B Nett winner was Syed Rosley Wan Hashim with a 68 and a further two strokes back in second place was Stephen Kong while Karim Reduan (71), Anwar Sahabuddin Kamaldin (72 OCB) and Pauzi Bujang finished in third to fifth spots. Shukri Latip took the Men’s Group B Gross title with a 91 followed by Law Wai Min (92) and Pang Kim Fah (95).
Meanwhile, South Korean Song Jungeon took the Ladies Nett title after she registered 72 strokes to beat Angelie Jerebai Ong (73) and Nicole Wong Yen Ping (77).
The Ladies Gross event was won by Latifah Bujang who carded a 92 score, finishing just a stroke ahead of Noor Afrina Ain.
The tournament, which attracted more than 200 members, was organised to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
KGS also donated a total of RM22,000 collected from its RM1 Charity Fund to 11 charitable organisations Pibakat, Sarawak Hun Nam T’ng, Malaysian Red Crescent Society Kuching Chapter, Kidney Association of Sarawak, Kuching Autistic Association, Ex-Police Association of Malaysia, The Green Ribbon Association Kuching, The Society for Critically Sick Children, Persatuan Orang-Orang Cacat Anggota Malaysia, Persatuan Olympik Khas Sarawak Kuching Chapter and Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan.
