Menyingkap Siapa Ghadafi sebenar

by : OM

2. Cukai pendapatan paling maksimum pun hanya 12%;

3. Bank di Libya tidak mengenakan sebarang faedah/ riba';

4. Qaddafi bersumpah bapa dan keluarganya tidak akan memiliki rumah selagi tiap rakyat Libya tidak mempunyai rumah. Bapa Qaddafi sudahpun meninggal dunia tanpa punya rumah, dan Qaddafi serta anak isterinya masih duduk didalam khemah;

5.Di Libya tidak ada rumah yang dipajak;

6. Mana-mana rakyat yang mahu bertani atau berladang akan diberikan tanah, haiwan ternakan dan benih percuma;

7. Tidak ada bil elektrik di Libya;

8. Pendidikan adalah percumn;

9. Kemudahan perubatan adalah percuma;

10. Tiap pasangan pengantin baru mendapat peruntukkan one-off payment berjumlah 6,000-00 dinar daripada Kerajaan;

11. Harga gas terlalu murah pada nilai 12 cents per liter;

12. Pembelian kenderaan diberi pembiayaan kewangan tanpa faedah;

13. satu sistem pengairan dan saliran yang hebat dibina untuk mengujudkan kawasan pertanian yang membebaskan Libya daripada pergantungan kepada sumber makanan luar;

14. Rakyat dan negara Libya menikmati mutu kehidupan yang tinggi berbanding dengan negara Afrika yang lain.

15 Kebanyakan sekim kesihatan umum, pendidikan dan minyak dibawah subsidi kerajaan.

16. Libya mempunyai kadar kematian bayi yang paling rendah dan kadar hayat yang tinggi;

17. Kadar celik ilmu adalah 90% (sedangkan semasa rampasan kuasa oleh Qaddafi terhadap Raja Idris kadar celik-ilmu hanyalah 10%);

18. Kurang daripada 5% penduduk yang kelaparan/ tanpa rumah; satu jumlah yang jauh daripada Amerika Syarikat;

19. Apabila berlaku kenaikan harga makanan, Qaddafi menghapuskan semua cukai atas makanan;

Israeli chutzpah or Barack Obama’s audacity of hope?

by : OM
So what’s it going to be: Israeli chutzpah or Barack Obama’s audacity of hope?

Predictably, Israel’s Netanyahu has lost no time in trashing President Barack Obama’s call for a “viable Palestine” along the 1967 borders. The Israeli PM has virtually rubbed Obama’s nose in, dismissing the borders that existed between Israel and its Arab neighbors before the war in 1967 as “indefensible.”

Well, nothing new here. The more things change around it, the more they remain the same for the ever-irrepressible and intransigent State of Israel. No matter who is in charge, Israeli’s obstinacy remains constant. Interestingly, Netanyahu’s rejection of the reasonable appeal from Israel’s most trusted ally comes hours before his high-profile US visit.

The Israeli leader can certainly count on a red carpet welcome and a firm handshake at the White House and endless, almost obsequious applause at the joint session of Congress that he is scheduled to address. And after all this adulation and glorification, a smug Netanyahu will go home once again, having successfully shrugged off Obama’s diffident attempts to introduce a semblance of balance in US engagement with the Middle East.

And, of course, the status quo will continue with the Palestinians forever stuck in the hell that is their existence and their plight radicalizing generations of Arabs and Muslims. Meanwhile, the yawning gulf between the West and Arab-Islamic world on account of Israel will further expand as the US fights disastrous, trillion-dollar wars in Muslim lands.

It doesn’t have to end this way. Obama’s State Department speech on Thursday has been widely welcomed around the world, although skepticism and open derision greeted it in the Middle East, the region that matters the most. Which is hardly surprising. After all, all those fine speeches by this US leader — or by his numerous predecessors for that matter — haven’t led us anywhere.

Israel continues to get away with murder, even as it refuses to give up the Palestinian and Arab lands it has occupied after every successive war of aggression. For seven decades, the world has watched in helplessness or indifference as an indigenous people are imprisoned and tormented in their own land. And the credit for this affairs goes to the West, especially its leader. Things wouldn’t have come this far without America’s blind and unquestioning support to Israel and its apathy to Israeli crimes against Palestinian people. Again, things on this front will change only if the US is serious and willing to deliver on its peace rhetoric and makes Israel fall in line.

There is only one and simple way of judging Obama’s sincerity and commitment to peace in the Middle East: action. It is time to qualify and follow up all that grandiloquence with real and concrete results on the ground. After all, the proof of the pudding, as they say, is in the eating.

Israel’s intransigence using its powerful friends in high places and fabled clout in the US establishment to have its way is unsurprising. The question is, how the US leadership deals with the obstinacy of its so-called ally and friend. We cannot believe that the reigning superpower is incapable of asserting itself vis-à-vis a rogue regime that survives on its aid and constant protection, if it puts its mind to it. It’s about time the world community put its foot down and tell Israel: Enough is enough and it’s time to behave. So what’s it going to be? Israel’s chutzpah or Obama’s audacity of hope?

Obama Middle East speech

by : OM

19 May 2011: President Barack Obama has given a key US policy speech about the Middle East and the wider Arab world.

"Let me conclude by talking about another cornerstone of our approach to the region, and that relates to the pursuit of peace.

"For decades, the conflict between Israelis and Arabs has cast a shadow over the region. For Israelis, it has meant living with the fear that their children could get blown up on a bus or by rockets fired at their homes, as well as the pain of knowing that other children in the region are taught to hate them. For Palestinians, it has meant suffering the humiliation of occupation, and never living in a nation of their own. Moreover, this conflict has come with a larger cost the Middle East, as it impedes partnerships that could bring greater security, prosperity, and empowerment to ordinary people.

"My administration has worked with the parties and the international community for over two years to end this conflict, yet expectations have gone unmet. Israeli settlement activity continues. Palestinians have walked away from talks. The world looks at a conflict that has grinded on for decades, and sees a stalemate. Indeed, there are those who argue that with all the change and uncertainty in the region, it is simply not possible to move forward.

"I disagree. At a time when the people of the Middle East and North Africa are casting off the burdens of the past, the drive for a lasting peace that ends the conflict and resolves all claims is more urgent than ever.

"For the Palestinians, efforts to de-legitimise Israel will end in failure. Symbolic actions to isolate Israel at the United Nations in September won't create an independent state. Palestinian leaders will not achieve peace or prosperity if Hamas insists on a path of terror and rejection. And Palestinians will never realize their independence by denying the right of Israel to exist.

"As for Israel, our friendship is rooted deeply in a shared history and shared values. Our commitment to Israel's security is unshakeable. And we will stand against attempts to single it out for criticism in international forums. But precisely because of our friendship, it is important that we tell the truth: the status quo is unsustainable, and Israel too must act boldly to advance a lasting peace.

"The fact is, a growing number of Palestinians live west of the Jordan River. Technology will make it harder for Israel to defend itself. A region undergoing profound change will lead to populism in which millions of people - not just a few leaders - must believe peace is possible. The international community is tired of an endless process that never produces an outcome. The dream of a Jewish and democratic state cannot be fulfilled with permanent occupation.

"Ultimately, it is up to Israelis and Palestinians to take action. No peace can be imposed upon them, nor can endless delay make the problem go away. But what America and the international community can do is state frankly what everyone knows: a lasting peace will involve two states for two peoples. Israel as a Jewish state and the homeland for the Jewish people, and the state of Palestine as the homeland for the Palestinian people; each state enjoying self-determination, mutual recognition, and peace.

"So while the core issues of the conflict must be negotiated, the basis of those negotiations is clear: a viable Palestine, and a secure Israel.

"The United States believes that negotiations should result in two states, with permanent Palestinian borders with Israel, Jordan, and Egypt, and permanent Israeli borders with Palestine.

"The borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps, so that secure and recognised borders are established for both states.

"The Palestinian people must have the right to govern themselves, and reach their potential, in a sovereign and contiguous state.

"As for security, every state has the right to self-defence, and Israel must be able to defend itself - by itself - against any threat.

"Provisions must also be robust enough to prevent a resurgence of terrorism; to stop the infiltration of weapons; and to provide effective border security.

"The full and phased withdrawal of Israeli military forces should be coordinated with the assumption of Palestinian security responsibility in a sovereign, non-militarised state.

"The duration of this transition period must be agreed, and the effectiveness of security arrangements must be demonstrated.

"These principles provide a foundation for negotiations.
"Palestinians should know the territorial outlines of their state; Israelis should know that their basic security concerns will be met.

"I know that these steps alone will not resolve this conflict.

"Two wrenching and emotional issues remain: the future of Jerusalem, and the fate of Palestinian refugees.

"But moving forward now on the basis of territory and security provides a foundation to resolve those two issues in a way that is just and fair, and that respects the rights and aspirations of Israelis and Palestinians.

"Recognising that negotiations need to begin with the issues of territory and security does not mean that it will be easy to come back to the table.

"In particular, the recent announcement of an agreement between Fatah and Hamas raises profound and legitimate questions for Israel - how can one negotiate with a party that has shown itself unwilling to recognise your right to exist.

"In the weeks and months to come, Palestinian leaders will have to provide a credible answer to that question. Meanwhile, the United States, our Quartet partners, and the Arab states will need to continue every effort to get beyond the current impasse.

"I recognise how hard this will be. Suspicion and hostility has been passed on for generations, and at times it has hardened. But I'm convinced that the majority of Israelis and Palestinians would rather look to the future than be trapped in the past. We see that spirit in the Israeli father whose son was killed by Hamas, who helped start an organization that brought together Israelis and Palestinians who had lost loved ones. He said, 'I gradually realised that the only hope for progress was to recognise the face of the conflict.' And we see it in the actions of a Palestinian who lost three daughters to Israeli shells in Gaza. 'I have the right to feel angry,' he said. 'So many people were expecting me to hate. My answer to them is I shall not hate… Let us hope,' he said, 'for tomorrow'.

"That is the choice that must be made - not simply in this conflict, but across the entire region - a choice between hate and hope; between the shackles of the past, and the promise of the future. It's a choice that must be made by leaders and by people, and it's a choice that will define the future of a region that served as the cradle of civilisation and a crucible of strife.

CIA report: Israel will fall in 20 years

by : OM
A study conducted by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has cast doubt over Israel's survival beyond the next 20 years.

The CIA report predicts "an inexorable movement away from a two-state to a one-state solution, as the most viable model based on democratic principles of full equality that sheds the looming specter of colonial apartheid while allowing for the return of the 1947/1948 and 1967 refugees. The latter being the precondition for sustainable peace in the region."

The study, which has been made available only to a certain number of individuals, further forecasts the return of all Palestinian refugees to the occupied territories, and the exodus of two million Israelis — who would move to the US in the next 15 years.

"There is over 500,000 Israelis with American passports and more than 300,000 living in the area of just California," International lawyer Franklin Lamb said in an interview with Press TV recently, adding that those who do not have American or Western passport, have already applied for them.

"So I think the handwriting at least among the public in Israel is on the wall...[which] suggests history will reject the colonial enterprise sooner or later," Lamb stressed.

He said CIA, in its report, alludes to the unexpectedly quick fall of the apartheid government in South Africa and recalls the disintegration of the Soviet Union in the early 1990s, suggesting the end to the dream of an 'Israeli land' would happen 'way sooner' than later.

The study further predicts the return of over one and a half million Israelis to Russia and other parts of Europe, and denotes a decline in Israeli births whereas a rise in the Palestinian population.

Lamb said given the Israeli conduct toward the Palestinians and the Gaza Strip in particular, the American public — which has been voicing its protest against Tel Aviv's measures in the last 25 years — may 'not take it anymore'. Some members of the US Senate Intelligence Committee have been informed of the report.

Makkah Metro will have 20 trains

by : OM
MAKKAH: Municipal and Rural Affairs Minister Prince Mansour bin Miteb on Tuesday inspected the Makkah Metro which is designed to transport 70,000 pilgrims in an hour between the holy sites of Makkah, Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifa during the peak days of Haj.

Speaking to reporters after inspecting the metro, which is also called Mashair Railway, Prince Mansour allayed public fears about the quality of the project, adding that it involves French, Canadian and German technology.

The project, covering 18 km, is in the final stages of construction. Thirty-five percent of its capacity would be used during this year’s Haj season. It will have 20 trains next year when it operates with full capacity. Each train will have 12 carriages.

The project includes construction of nine railway stations in Arafat, Mina and Muzdalifa, each 300 meters long. One station will be located near the Jamrat Bridge in Mina where the stoning ritual takes place. Pilgrims will be able to board the train from the bridge’s fourth floor.

The railway project would bring about remarkable improvements in the transportation of pilgrims between the holy sites, one of the main headaches for Saudi Haj managers. A test drive on the new railway is to take place on Aug. 1.

Commenting on media reports about the project, Prince Mansour said: “We respect what has been reported in the media. We benefit from the views being expressed by writers and citizens in the media. This project is designed by specialized international companies.”

He said the various components of the railway are being supplied by major Western companies. “For example, its engines are Canadian and breaks are German. The project is implemented by German Federal Railways in association with Saudi Engineering House.”

The minister added: “I would like to reassure everybody about the safety and performance of the new railway.” He added that the trains would be in green color.

Twenty percent of seats in the train will be allocated for the elderly, a source told Arab News. “It is expected that about half a million pilgrims would be transported from Arafat to Muzdalifa through this railway system,” he added.

Prince Mansour also inspected the second phase of the floodwater drainage systems in Arafat and Muzdalifa and along the roads of the holy sites. The new projects cost SR4 billion.

Meanwhile, a workshop was held at the Haj Ministry’s branch office in Jeddah to enlighten domestic Haj companies on the Mashair Railway. Abdul Qader Al-Jabarti, chairman of the Haj Committee, has asked the authorities to reduce the proposed charge for using the railway from SR250 to SR90.

“The railway is being established with the financial support of the government to serve pilgrims. The proposed fare of SR250 to be paid by each pilgrim using the railway is very high. It should be reduced to SR90,” he told Arab News.

Al-Jabarti said more than 150,000 pilgrims from Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries will use the facility during the first phase. “These pilgrims account for 73 percent of domestic pilgrims,” he pointed out. Al-Jabarti said all pilgrims including locals and foreigners will use the railway during the second phase of the project.

DAMASCUS, June 17 (Bernama) -- The Israeli attack on the Gaza-bound aid flotilla is more likely to increase the war risks in the Middle East, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said in an interview with BBC posted on its website Thursday.

There is no chance of a peace deal with the current Israeli administration, al-Assad said, indicating that the Israeli assault destroyed any chances for peace in the near future, with what he called "pyromaniac government", according to the BBC website, reported China's Xinhua news agency.

"The Middle East is witnessing a changing point and was working to avoid the risk of a regional war," he added.

During the days following the Israeli aggression, several Syrian cities witnessed mass protest demonstrations denouncing the Israeli forces action which caused the death of nine activists in the international water.

Israel has refused UN proposal of an international probe into its deadly raid.

On the day of the incident, the Syrian top leader called on the United States to push Israel to halt its brutal aggressions, lift the siege on Gaza Strip and move forward with the peace process as the only solution to restoring regional stability.

Israeli military navy attacked early morning on May 31 the international aid convoy flotilla in the international waters with live ammunition and gas bombs, causing nine activists on board killed and dozens injured in the action which evoked vast international official and popular condemnation.

The victims were pro-Palestinian eight Turkish activists and one American of Turkish origin who were attempting to deliver aid of supplies to the blockaded Gaza Strip.

In the interview, al-Assad also denied sending weapons to the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, an accusation by Israel.
